A Day of Happy Birthdays & Anniversary

There are two things to celebrate today, but I'm only really excited about one, which is Bauer & Layla's 3rd birthday today. They were born on August 1, 2007 by momma dog Charlie. She gave birth to them during the early evening. She initially gave birth to three, but the first died as it was born breach and I think Charlie may have been under too much stress. However, I have a guilty conscious about that.

Here's my precious "little" puppies. Bauer was born before Layla. The blond is Layla (and you can see that she is significantly larger than Bauer even as a puppy), and Bauer is the darker one. Too cute! I wish they could stay this small and cute, but just like babies they need special attention in the form of food and potty training. They were about a week old for this picture.

These are my "babies". I love them so much. Some people just see dogs as dogs, but I see them more than that. Once you have a special relationship with a dog you can see how much they are attuned to their owner(s). I would do anything for my dogs.

This is them all grown up now (from a year ago). They don't look so innocent now do they? All three got into a pillow I had placed on the floor and you can see that Charlie is trying to make a run for it.

And here's Layla. She hates bath time. It takes me twice as long to give her a bath as to the other two because she doesn't like it when I use a cup to rinse her down. I have to use my own hands so she doesn't jump out of the tub all wet.

Promotion

So I went into work today after my 10 day "weekend" and was taken into the conference room by the managing attorney and the office manager. I was a bit scared not knowing why they were wanting to talk to me. I thought maybe they were having an issue with me taking my vacation or some sort of issue that might have come up while I was gone. Luckily it wasn't either one of those issues.

I was told by the managing attorney and office manager that I would be the secretary for the attorney who my current office manager is a secretary for. I've worked with him before but not on a permanent basis. My theory is that the office manager and her attorney are having some issues (as in the office manager is really slacking off on her work and he's not happy about it). My office manager has been taking A LOT of time off work due to illness and family emergencies. She's been doing this since last September. The other secretary that I work with whose about my age I don't really like our office manager for many reasons, but we put on a happy face and fake our presence around her. (Just so you all know, there are 3 legal secretaries, 1 receptionist and 3 attorneys). Sometime last month we came to a conclusion that the attorney was going to be fed up with her and so it has come to fruition.

I will be working for an attorney who has been with the firm for 6 years and is notorious for sending tons of e-mails. I'll show her how the work is supposed to be done. My office manager thinks she's going to have it easy with the attorney I'm working with right now. HA! As much as I love working with the attorney I have now because she and I are a lot alike, I want to see how much she has to work for this attorney. This is my last week being my current attorney's secretary and Monday I will be working on the "new" attorney.

I could go on and on, but I don't feel like it. I just want my office manager to see that my attorney is really not that easy to work with if she's not organized and on top of her work. All I have to say is HA!
